Freeform Maple Pillar

It took 4 of us to load this piece of maple trunk into my car… The tree was brought down in an Ice storm and was destined for the fireplace. I worked Quickly to hollow out the majority of the log in an attempt to avoid cracking. Once the rough shape was achieved it waited in my house for 2 years to Dry. Once cured I filled any cracks or voids with powdered Turquoise and Sanded for weeks. Mounted on black dyed Sycamore slab.
