I’ve spent much of my life as an admirer of the arts, and dabbled in more types of art than I care to list. About 10 years ago I chose to dive into painting, and accept that what I create will not look the way I want it to for a long time.

I adopted a policy of fearlessness, be willing to try anything when it comes to creating art… Aim for something outside my skillset, tear the canvas, bolt on pieces of wood, repaint, and modify.

Over the years I transitioned to assemblage, and sculpture. One of my great joys is finding a beautiful part of nature and helping others to see it as I do. Sometimes this results in raw and unrefined pieces, and other times It leads me to very intricate and polished pieces.

While each piece can be different, each one takes quite a bit of time, freedom, and risk. Wood cracks as it dries, wood expands and contracts, it ages. It’s not uncommon for me to loose an unfinished piece to cracking as it dries. My pieces are complete when I am confident that any additional cracking will not ruin the sculpture. The cracks are not an error or mistake, in fact for many pieces they are a feature. Often I will build a whole piece around damage to the wood.

Please look around at what I’ve made. I hope you can see the beauty in what nature made, and I completed.

Each piece is for sale, but I prefer to sell in person. I would love to share the story of where the piece you are buying came from, how to care for it. Many of these pieces will not ship easily… and some will benefit greatly by staying in the Pacific Northwest and avoiding dry climates.

Contact me if you want to see the work in person.
